About
There are a lot of David Evans in the world, and chances are you came here looking
for someone you know, or maybe your name is David Evans too. The one we all know
about is otherwise known as "The Edge" - the lead guitar player for the
legendary rock band, U2. He's one cool guy, but alas I am not he.
This site also gets a lot of visitors looking for the Bishop David Evans, the UK's
MP David Evans, the engineering company David Evans & Associates and the Australian
photographer, David Evans. I am honored to share their name, but alas, I am
not they.
And of course there are many more David Evans out there - and if you know or are
one, welcome.
This site was started back in 1995 when the web was young. I had just left the BBC
where we went from CD-ROMs to "the Net" and put bbc.co.uk online - with
very limited resources. Shortly thereafter, I was fortunate enough to join Jonathan
Bulkeley and be part of the founding team of four to launch AOL into the UK, and
then joined Stephen Bartkiw (a very cool fellow bearing a remarkable resemblance
to Michael J. Fox) to launch AOL into Canada. As a kid from Newmarket this was a
special privilege. It was at this time that people started to care about those three
little letters, www.
This site was started to become a place where I could collect and share my father's
several thousand photographs, and a few thousand of my own with our extended family.
Because many of the photos are really meant for family consumption, I ask you to
sign up to see them - as a way to limit their exposure and stop 'bots and Google
(among others) from indexing them. I know, there are robots.txt files for that,
but this way I can be sure that the only people looking at my family's photos
care enough to sign up. If you don't care - thanks for dropping by anyway.
If you are a relative of my father Emyr Wyn Evans, or my mother Jane Celia Massingberd-Mundy,
then welcome - there are a lot of photos inside for you!
If you are a friend of my sister Elizabeth Jane Evans, then you'll find some
pictures of darlings Kez and Aza for sure.
If you are a friend of my lovely wife Christina Goldstein Evans, or my three amazing
daughters Leah Rebecca, Holly Megan and Tegwen Elizabeth, a very special welcome
to you.
Cheers and God Bless, David
